GDPR mandates customer’s right to data deletion. This feature is not present in the default Magento settings. The delete account extension adds a ‘Delete Account’ option in ‘My Account’ section that allows customers to effortlessly submit their account deletion request to the store administrator. The administrator must respect the customer’s request to delete their account.
When a customer submits an account deletion request, the store administrator has two options: encrypt or delete the account.
By encrypting the account, the account remains in the database, but the customer is unable to log in. This is because the extension adds a unique code to the email address associated with the account. The administrator can decrypt back an encrypted account.
On the other hand, selecting to delete the account results in the complete removal of all associated account data from the database.
