A credit memo is a document that a seller sends to a buyer to reduce or eliminate the price of an item purchased by the buyer. For example, if a buyer returns the item due to whatever reason, the seller can compensate by issuing a credit memo. Another reason for credit memo is price change. A seller can excite customers by crediting them due to a recent reduction in prices.
Magento 2 allows sellers to send a credit memo email along with comments to inform customers of their credits.
Sellers can configure credit memo comments to send email to multiple departments such as Sales department, Account department, etc.
Let’s see how to configure credit memo comments in Magento 2.
Steps to Configure Credit Memo Comments in Magento 2
- Login to Magento 2 admin panel
- Go to Stores -> Settings -> Configuration
- Scroll down, under Sales select Sales Emails
- Expand the Credit Memo Comments section
Now, you can configure the following options.
Enabled: By default, it is set to ‘Yes’ which means that the seller can send the credit memo comment email to customers after they have asked for it.
Credit Memo Comment Email Sender: Select the person from whom you want to send the credit memo comment email.
Credit Memo Comment Email Template: Choose the email template based on your requirements.
Credit Memo Comment Email Template for Guests: Select the email template for customers who have not created an account on your store.
Send Credit Memo Comment Email Copy To: Enter comma separated email addresses to whom you want to send a copy of the credit memo comment email.
Send Credit Memo Comments Email Copy Method: Select either Bcc (Blind carbon copy) or separate email copy. This will send either a copy of the email or a separate email.
Click Save Config.
