Wallan Rent a Car operates across multiple cities throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, serving both individual and corporate customers with a diverse fleet spanning economy, SUV, luxury, and van categories. As the business grew, the need for a robust, customer-facing digital platform became clear — one that could handle real-time bookings, surface branch information clearly, and extend the experience to mobile users.
FME Extensions was engaged to design and develop a complete solution on Magento 2, integrating a tailored booking engine, a multi-location branch finder, long-term lease capabilities, and native mobile applications across Android, iOS, and Huawei AppGallery.
The Challenge
More than a store, a full rental operation online
Standard e-commerce platforms are built for simple add-to-cart workflows. A car rental business operates on entirely different logic: customers need to specify a pickup location, a return location, and precise date and time windows before a price can even be calculated. Layered on top of this, Wallan needed to communicate branch-level details, addresses, operating hours, and contact information, to help customers plan around their specific city or airport.
The project required custom development work to model vehicle availability and booking flows within Magento 2, alongside a purpose-built branch discovery experience powered by the FME Store Locator extension. The solution also had to serve Arabic-speaking customers natively, reflecting Saudi Arabia's bilingual digital environment.

We designed and built the platform from the ground up around the customer's rental journey, from discovering the right vehicle to confirming a booking in seconds. Here's what was delivered:
Smart booking engine with location and time selection
Customers select a pickup location, return location, pickup date and time, and return date and time before browsing available vehicles. Pricing is calculated dynamically based on rental duration, keeping the experience transparent from the first click.
Multi-branch store locator with full branch details
Built using the FME Store Locator extension for Magento 2, customers can browse all Wallan branches across Saudi Arabia, viewing each location's address, phone number, and opening hours, essential information when planning an airport or city pickup.
Long-term lease with dedicated enquiry flow
Corporate and extended-stay customers have access to a dedicated long-term lease section, allowing them to enquire about monthly rental packages for any vehicle in the fleet, a separate journey from the standard short-term booking flow.
Native mobile apps for Android, iOS, and Huawei
FME Extensions developed dedicated mobile apps for all three major platforms, Google Play, the Apple App Store, and Huawei AppGallery, ensuring Wallan could reach every customer regardless of their device ecosystem.
Diverse fleet with category filtering
The full vehicle catalogue, spanning Sedan, SUV, Luxury, and VAN categories, is browsable with filters, displayed with pricing per day, transmission type, and model year, giving customers the confidence to select the right vehicle before booking.
Full Arabic language support
The platform serves customers in both English and Arabic, with a complete RTL-compatible Arabic store view, reflecting the bilingual expectations of the Saudi market and ensuring a native-feeling experience for all users.

How the Store Locator extension powered branch discovery
A rental company's physical locations are not just a contact detail, they are a core part of the product. Customers booking in Riyadh need to know if there's a branch near their hotel. Travellers arriving at an airport need opening hours. Corporate customers want a number they can call.
For Wallan, the Branches section lets customers quickly identify nearby locations with all the practical information they need in one place, reducing customer support load and increasing booking confidence. The extension's structured data model also made it straightforward to maintain and update branch information as the network grows.
Mobile Development
Reaching customers on every platform
Wallan Rent a Car's customer base spans a wide range of devices. To serve all of them, and to meet the expectations of a market where mobile-first usage is the norm, FME Extensions developed native applications for all three major ecosystems.
Each app delivers the full booking experience, vehicle browsing, location selection, date and time input, and account management — in a native mobile interface. The Huawei AppGallery release in particular ensures Wallan can serve customers on Huawei devices, which hold a significant share of the Saudi market following the shift away from Google services on those devices.
